Every Perfect Gift

"Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow."
James 1:17

God gives bountifully out of His grace and love. All around us are the signs of His generosity. Beautiful scenery, food on our tables, roofs over our heads. Unlike shifting shadows, such as those we see in the mountains, God is constant, never changing. We can always depend upon Him. What a glorious God we serve!

Pray for Our Leaders

'He who rules over men righteously,
Who rules in the fear of God,
Is as the light of the morning when the sun rises,
         A morning without clouds,
When the tender grass springs out of the earth,
         Through sunshine after rain.'
2 Samuel 23:3-4

The man or woman in leadership who truly knows God and lives accordingly will make decisions that benefit the nation. Pray that our leaders will reverence God and look to Him for guidance.

God of the Harvest

'They do not say in their heart,
"Let us now fear the LORD our God,
Who gives rain in its season,
Both the autumn rain and the spring rain,
         Who keeps for us
The appointed weeks of the harvest."
Jeremiah 5:24

Jeremiah the Prophet confronts the Israelites in their refusal to acknowledge God. They did not consider that He had faithfully provided the harvest. Instead, each went his own self-centered way, neglecting to worship God. Reflect on what God has provided and thank Him for His generosity. He deserves our praise.

Deep Calls to Deep

"Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls;" Psalm 42:7a

When the waters of trouble rush over us, threatening to drown us, we are then at the point when we cry out to God from the deepest need of our soul. The Lord hears us and hurries to answer us out of love from the deepest part of His heart.

The Perfect Refuge in a Storm

"I would hasten to my place of refuge from the stormy wind and tempest." Psalm 55:8

When storm clouds gather in the Colorado mountains, the wise rush to shelter for refuge. So it is when the storms of life gather around the Christian. He or she has shelter from the tempest of trials.  Christ Jesus is the perfect refuge.

Leap for Joy

"Then the lame will leap like a deer," Isaiah 35:6

Isaiah prophesied of the joy of the redeemed. That once they received Christ and eternal redemption, their joy would overflow and like one who was once lame, they would leap as the deer. Are you leaping for joy today?

Caring for His Garden

"He waters the mountains from His upper chamber." Psalm 104:13

Imagine the Lord watering the mountains from heaven as we might water our gardens. What an awesome thought!
