The Return of the King

"And it will come about in the last days
That the mountain of the house of the LORD
Will be established as the chief of the mountains
It will be raised above the hills,
And the peoples will stream to it." Micah 4:1

A day is coming when the Lord will reign on the earth and peace will be established at last. For those of us who long for the second coming of Jesus Christ this is an exciting thought and we wait in great anticipation for His appearance. How glorious the return of the King will be.

Sign of the Covenant

"I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth." Genesis 9:13

After the flood, God made a covenant that never again would He destroy the earth and all living things with water. Every time we see a rainbow it is a reminder to us of God's love and faithfulness. What a beautiful symbol God chose to portray His promise.

We Will Not Fear

"God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change
And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;" Psalm 46:1-2

Earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, drought and other catastrophes may plague the earth, but those who put their faith and trust in God have a source of strength that will support them through the worst possible circumstances. The earth may change, but God never does. He is ever present, ever faithful.

The Hand of the Lord

"Who among all these does not know
That the hand of the LORD has done this,
In whose hand is the life of every living thing,
And the breath of all mankind?" Job 12:9-10

All around us is the evidence of God's existence. The wild animals testify to His provision for their daily sustenance. There is no other hand to feed and shelter them, save His. We often forget where our food and housing really comes from and to whom we owe our every breath. The Lord has done this. All praise and thanks belong to Him.

The Light of Dawn

"THE PEOPLE WHO WERE SITTING IN DARKNESS SAW A GREAT LIGHT,
AND THOSE WHO WERE SITTING IN THE LAND AND SHADOW OF DEATH,
UPON THEM A LIGHT DAWNED." Matthew 4:16

After Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, the Lord traveled to Capernaum in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. In fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy He preached repentance and the establishment of the Kingdom of God. The light of His truth pierced the spiritual darkness of the people of Zebulun and Naphtali and brought them into the glorious light of God's love. Thus began Christ's ministry to all inhabitants of the earth. It still continues today. The truth of His word sheds light on the spiritual darkness in our world through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Our Fortress

"Be to me a rock of habitation to which I may continually come; You have given commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress."
Psalm 71:3

David knew what it meant to look to God for salvation. The Lord delivered him from danger many times. Just as David continually ran to the Lord, so can we. If you are troubled today, run to the Rock of Habitation. Our God, the Fortress. He's waiting for you.

In the Cleft of the Rock

"and it will come about, while My glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by."
Exodus 33:22

Moses asks to see God's glory. Out of His great love for Moses, the Lord obliges, but He also knows that Moses could not endure the total brightness of His glory and so He hides him in the cleft of the rock and covers him with His hand as He passes by. He protects Moses even as He grants him the desire of his heart. What a gracious heavenly Father we serve.
