Living Stone

"And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men,
but is choice and precious in the sight of God,"
1 Peter 2:4

Jesus is the "living stone". Living in that He died for our sins but was raised again to life, and a stone in that He is the solid foundation on which we build our lives. Those who accept Him as the Messiah, Savior, the One who is precious in the sight of God, find they can continually come to Him for all of their needs. We build our lives on the rock solid foundation of Jesus Christ. "Christ is our sufficiency. As we commune continually with Him by faith, we learn that our primary need in life is to 'know Him' (Phil. 3:10)." (Pastor Steven Cole)

Our Fortress

"Be to me a rock of habitation to which I may continually come; You have given commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress."
Psalm 71:3

David knew what it meant to look to God for salvation. The Lord delivered him from danger many times. Just as David continually ran to the Lord, so can we. If you are troubled today, run to the Rock of Habitation. Our God, the Fortress. He's waiting for you.

No Rock Like Our God

"There is no one holy like the LORD, Indeed, there is no one besides You,
Nor is there any rock like our God." 1 Samuel 2:2

1 Samuel 2 records Hannah's thanksgiving prayer. She praises God for opening her barren womb and giving her a son, Samuel. She declares God's uniqueness. Only He is holy, and there is no rock like Him. Rock symbolizes solidity, something that will stand the test of time. So it is with God. He is solid and eternal. He is a Holy Rock. There is no other like our God.
