The Ultimate Teacher

"I shall give thanks to You with uprightness of heart,

When I learn Your righteous judgments."

Psalm 119:7

The more we know of God, the more we find for which to praise Him. His word is full of truth and life and hope. Joy comes in discovering who He is. He is altogether lovely. Completely trustworthy. Ever faithful. Full of grace. The Ultimate Teacher.

"We must learn to praise, learn that we may praise, and praise when we have learned. If we are ever to learn, the Lord must teach us, and especially upon such a subject as His judgments, for they are a great deep. While these are passing before our eyes, and we are learning from them, we ought to praise God, for the original is not, 'when I have learned,' but, 'in my learning.' (Spurgeon)

Great is His Name

"There is none like You, O LORD; You are great,

and great is Your name in might."

Jeremiah 10:6

Jeremiah testifies that there is only one true God and that all other so-called gods are of no use. They are gods of man's making and they are impotent. Nothing can touch the greatness of the Triune God. He is unique and timeless. All powerful, yet full of mercy and kindness. His love is immeasurable. He reigns forever. Great is His name. "Whosoever does not understand that there is a God, and does not know who or what He is, can never be really influenced by this truth, that the gods of the heathens are demons, and that all their superstitions are sacrilegious." -- John Calvin

God Loves Seekers

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."

Matthew 7:7

God loves seekers. He's anxious to reveal Himself to anyone who will look for Him. He's not bothered by questions. Ask Him whatever you want. Got doubts? No problem. They don't threaten God at all. He's the King of the Universe, the Creator of all things. Almighty. Holy. Omnipotent and Omniscient. And He's absolutely crazy about you. So go ahead. Knock on the door of His heart and He'll open it up to you.

The Deep Riches of Our Father

"Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, OR WHO BECAME HIS COUNSELOR? Or WHO HAS FIRST GIVEN TO HIM THAT IT MIGHT BE PAID BACK TO HIM AGAIN? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.
Romans 11:33-36

Are you a believer? If you are -- if you have a relationship with Jesus Christ -- then you are an heir to great wealth. For our triune God is rich in wisdom and knowledge. We can search the scriptures and spend hours studying  God's word, yet we still will only have made a tiny scratch in the surface of who He is. But isn't that exciting? To think that we have a God beyond comprehension who desires to have a relationship with us? Who desires that we know and believe Him, understand that He is the one true God, and be His witnesses (Isaiah 43:10)? And think about this. . .God doesn't owe us anything. He's not beholden to us in any way. He made everything, He owns everything. We owe our very existence to Him. How great is our God! To Him be the glory forever! Amen.
