"Your adornment must not be merely external—braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God."
1 Peter 3:3-4
Today a 95 year-old woman came into our shop, a follower of Jesus. Her skin was lined, her hair silver. The bloom of youth had long ago left her face, yet she was incredibly beautiful. Her beauty came from the gentle and quiet spirit that flowed from within her. It was in her speech and in her eyes. She was a wonderful example of the kind of woman Peter speaks of in these verses. A woman with a kind demeanor which is precious in the sight of God. It is imperishable; it only gets better with age.
